Characterization of grafting properties of ABS latexes: ATR-FTIR vs NMR spectroscopy

چکیده

Acrylonitrile–Butadiene–Styrene (ABS) polymers have a complex microstructure which is formed during the grafting reaction of polybutadiene seed latex. During reaction, some styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN) chains are grafted onto (PB) backbone chains, and this critical to achieve effective dispersion compatibility both phases. Therefore, accurate characterization properties helps understanding polymerization mechanism as well final ABS polymer its applications properties. In work, latexes were determined by separation soluble insoluble phase polymer, followed these phases using analytical techniques. Phase was carried out dispersing latex in acetone ultracentrifugation. The for first time analysed NMR spectroscopy obtain corresponding fractions SAN PB each phase. fraction liquid-state 1H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, whereas solid-state 13C spectroscopy. Moreover, Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), results obtained compared discussed article. We found that most achieved analysing composition

Evaluating the Role of antioxidants in the stabilization of hydroxypropyl cellulose by ATR-FTIR Spectroscopy

This study is aimed at evaluating the performance of tetrakismethylene-3-3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl propionate methane S1010, tris2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl phosphite S1680 and ascorbic acid AA antioxidants in stabilization of hydroxypropyl cellulose HPC. For this purpose, a number of films with weight percent ratios of 0.4 w/w were prepared in a 1 isopropanol solution w/v. Then, the films ...

Chemical imaging of microfluidic flows using ATR-FTIR spectroscopy.

Elucidating the chemical composition of microfluidic flows is crucial in both understanding and optimising reactive processes within small-volume environments. Herein we report the implementation of a novel detection methodology based on Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR)-Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) spectroscopic imaging using an infrared focal plane array detector for microfluidic applic...

Application of Multivariable Analysis and FTIR-ATR Spectroscopy to the Prediction of Properties in Campeche Honey

Attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectrometry and chemometrics model was used for determination of physicochemical properties (pH, redox potential, free acidity, electrical conductivity, moisture, total soluble solids (TSS), ash, and HMF) in honey samples. The reference values of 189 honey samples of different botanical origin were determined using Association Official An...

Rapid discrimination of maggots utilising ATR-FTIR spectroscopy.

Entomological evidence is used in forensic investigations to indicate time since death. The species and age of maggots or flies that are present at the scene can be used when estimating how much time has passed since death. Current methods that are used to identify species and developmental stage of larvae and fly samples are highly subjective, costly and often time consuming processes and requ...

Characterization of microRNA-125b expression in MCF7 breast cancer cells by ATR-FTIR spectroscopy.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs), are ~22 nucleotides long, non-coding RNAs that control gene expression post-transcriptionally by binding to their target mRNA's 3'UTRs (untranslated regions). Due to their roles in various important regulatory processes and pathways, miRNAs have been implicated in disease mechanisms such as tumorigenesis when their expression is deregulated. To date, a significant number of ...
